Has it been a month since I posted? I guess so... Anyway, it has been an interesting month to say the least. DAS has been commuting back and forth to Manhattan every week so he is gone from Sunday night to Friday night... it is not the greatest situation, but it will only be for a few more weeks, and then the temporary housing in Manhattan starts. But the temporary housing is only for thirty days, so after that, I am not sure what the story will be. I've basically just been working at Talbots, and hanging out at home da sola.
This past Sunday, I went with a friend and her son to Baltimore for a LAX tournament at UMBC. It was a very modern looking campus. His team did pretty well, even though they only had twelve guys on the team. Many of the other teams had twenty or more guys on the team which would mean more guys to sub and fresh legs so they would not be tired. Our guys were dog tired but they played their hardest.
Our hot water heater decided to conk out last Friday, and it sporadically worked for a day and then I left for a few days, so nothing was done with it... I called a plumbing company and they wanted $150 just to come over and look at it, so I called another company and they wanted $70. I figured that was somewhat better and Randy, the repair guy, came over shortly. He looked at the hot water heater, twiddled a dial and said, "Oh, you almost had it!" and proceeded to turn the pilot light on and make me feel like an idiot. I asked if the charge would still be $70, and he said, "yep" but I had him call the office just to make sure. Marilyn at the office confirmed and I wrote out the check. I was SOOOOO upset. It wasn't just the $70 - it was the idea that all I had to do was fool with the dial to make it work. I felt so sad and alone it was ridiculous. As I was writing out the check, I could feel tears coming to my eyes and I practically kicked Randy out of the house. Well, I had a good meltdown at that point - and when I recovered, I went into the basement to check to see if the pilot light was still functional. Lo and behold, it was out! I called back and spoke with Marlyn who said she would send Randy back over. He came back and had to change out a thermocouple or something and went on his way. Man, I was annoyed, but at least I did not feel like as much of an idiot... One nice hot bubble bath later and I was back to normal :)
