The Constant Gardener

I love films of all kinds, foreign, animated, drama, action, etc. Horror films still really give me the heebie-jeebies, and often times my eyes are covered throughout the majority of those films, but because DAS enjoys them, I'm trying to be a bit more brave. However, I do enjoy drama the best, especially when it has a twist or dark plot which needs to be solved.

I saw "The Constant Gardener" last night, based on the book by John Le Carre. It fit the bill for one of my perfect movies. Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz were the loving Quayle couple who ended up in Kenya on diplomatic assignment. Rachel, aka Tessa, discovers that the poor Kenyans are being used in medical trials for an unstable drug called Dypraxa without their official knowledge and it is killing many of them.
She and her friend, Arnold, write a report about their findings and are brutally murdered. It is then up to Ralph, aka Justin, to follow in her footsteps and discover the mystery behind her death and many of the secrets she kept from him during their brief marriage.

It was a brilliant and tragic film, but one of the better films I have seen in awhile. Just thought I'd mention it.
