Way, way back in 2003, I started a blog when I worked at LEADERS Magazine. It was extremely short-lived - 5 days to be exact. For the longest time, I was not able to access the blog because I couldn't remember my log-in details, but they resurfaced today! I have since deleted that sorry blog from cyberspace, but for posterity's sake, my ruminations have been preserved here for all to enjoy. Hee hee. Well, they do illustrate that I haven't changed much in three plus years...
Here, in all of its glory, "Rants and Raves from the Big Apple."

Well, it has been, hmm, over three months since my last post. Sadly to say, nothing of much consequence has ocurred in that time. Work is ok. MO and the gang here at work are all well. Our receptionist is out on vacation this week, so the office is dead quiet. It is now less than a year until the wedding. Yay. I am super excited and still have so much to do beforehand. My parents and I have checked out a number of venue locations in order to narrow down the top few for DAS to see. He is extremely busy at work. He is very dedicated and extremely good at what he does. However, sometimes I wish that he had a job that did not stress him out so much. Ugh. This weekend we are going to a Quasi - Family Reunion in West Virginia. Harper's Ferry to be exact. Not sure why they chose that particular location, but oh well. Hopefully it will be fun. Sorry, I'm kind of boring right now.Later.

It was a gorgeous weekend. I barely was able to haul myself out of bed this morning... somehow I managed. DAS and I met with the priest who will be officiating at our wedding on Saturday. It was very awe-inspiring. I am getting married. I know it is not for over a year, but still. It is so nice to know that someone wants to spend the rest of his life with me. Kinda makes me feel special. So work was okay today, but would you believe that our DSL went down today? The phones went down on Thursday and the DSL today. Go figure. It was down for abour two hours and 15 minutes. MO asked if AT&T would be issuing us a credit for the down time. If they do, it will be less that $2.00 as we pay $400 per month - and I broke it down to the hourly cost. Oh well, I mean a penny saved is a penny earned, or something - so if we get the credit, cool... I have to go and return something at Bloomingdale's now. I have been spending way too much money lately! Later.

Well, the crises are over. The phone system was up and running this morning. My boss is out next week on vacation. I'll call him MO. He is an ok guy to work for. He mostly keeps to himself, but sometimes he should really speak up about some things that he does not... I went horse riding last night. It was cool. I rode a horse called Midnight. He was a lot of fun, but maybe cause of the weather, he was a bit jumpy. He spooked quite a few times with little bucks and whatnot. Not a big deal, but it is fun to ride a calm horse once in awhile.
The only bad thing was that the bracelet that DAS gave me the night we were engaged broke when I was fixing my stirrups. Darn it!! I took it to Tiffany and they should have it fixed by 6, so that is great. This weekend is going to be pretty busy cause DAS and I are meeting with the Priest who will be officiating at our wedding tomorow. I also have tp help out at my parent's restaurant on Sunday. Fun! Fun! Fun! I am nervous because I am going to convert to Catholicism and have to figure out everything I need to do beforehand. Let's see, I think that is pretty much all that happened today. It was basically pretty boring and raining. Well, I am going to pack up and head out of here soon. Later.

So, today I planned on taking a half day. I had an appointment at 2 pm. I called into the office just to make sure that everything was ok, and of course, major crises everywhere. Our entire phone system went down, except for one line. So, I had to rush back to the office and make extremely frustrating calls into the multiple 800 numbers that AT&T has for customer service. The phones went down at 2:20 - and only now 4:42, did I get an idea of when I'd be able to get some help. Apparently, a technician should call me back within 30 minutes. At least the internet is working. On a better note, thank goodness there is always a better note, I am going horseback riding tonight. I have been riding since the age of I think 10, and it is my favorite thing to do. My head hurts from the level of frustration I am experiencing right now. Well, tomorrow is Friday and that makes me happy. The phones had better be working by tomorrow morning. That is all I have to say. P.S. I have the best fiance in the world. His name is DAS(initials are cool!) and he is just about the cutest thing on two legs. Later.

So here I am. Sitting at my desk in my charming office with mirrors covering my windows. I guess the person who worked here before me was a bit of an egoist. One of my track lights is out as well. I attempted to change the bulb, but for whatever reason, the light is not going on. Raining and dreary outside. Will winter ever end? To go along with the miserable weather, my boss has been running me ragged today. Argh. To make matters even worse, my best friend at work just left for a three week trip to the Philippines. I am seriously bummed out by this turn of events. What am I going to do during my meager lunch hour without her? One of our favorite web-sites is: www.engrish.com. A recent post on the site featured a Japanese teenager wearing a t-shirt with the phrase: "I hate myself and I want to die!!!" emblazoned on the front. This is how I am feeling today. I don't normally feel like this, but I think it is a combination of my boss, the weather, my friend leaving the country and just general malaise that has been floating around me. On a brighter note...I've heard so much about blogs that I thought I would start one of my own. Today is as good a day as any to begin, I suppose. Not sure that anything I have to say will amuse or intrigue anyone, but at least this will be a place that I can scrawl my thoughts and have an easy way of remembering what I was thinking at the time. At 27, I think I am already experiencing memory loss. Ah, well that is enough about me for now. Until next time.
