Snowed in on Valentine's Day

I just took that picture from the front door. The snow is really piled up next to the house and on the upper part of the driveway. We do get a lot of blowing snow - and luckily, the wind blew the snow out of the lower part of the driveway for us. My poor little trees are buried. I hope they'll be ok. It is still snowing a little bit (hence the white blobs in the photo) and I'm hoping it will stop completely by tomorrow morning as I'm heading to NJ.

So yesterday was a pretty interesting Valentine's Day. We were inundated with snow, and DAS did not go to work because the office was closed. Wednesday would normally have been a barn day for me, and since 2 feet of snow was expected, I did not go either. DAS and I were snowed in on Valentine's Day, and it was great. We started off the morning by watching Tron. DAS worked a lot on his music and I did some paperwork and office / house kind of stuff. Later in the day, we watched Cars, which is an awesome movie. I was tearing up a little and felt silly, but I really thought that it was a fantastic film, with great animation and a terrific story. DAS had the chance to relax and enjoy a free day, and I think it was the best Valentine's day we both could have received.

At the barn on Tuesday, I had some sad news. Sugar, the little red mare I rode in the shows during the summer, had to be put down because she fractured her leg while turned out in the indoor ring. Apparently she banged her leg against a cavaletti that was in the middle of the ring and shattered her leg. I hope she rests in peace.

I am going to NJ for not one but two birthday parties. The first is for my Dad's mom, Nana, who turned 90 earlier this week. We're having a dinner for her on Saturday night. Then, on Sunday we're having a brunch for my Grandfather's wife. It is certainly going to be a fun-filled weekend. DAS just left for work after unburying his car, and I have to be at work by 3. I don't think it will be a problem getting there now, the snow is not too bad.
