TGI Thursday

Today was a pretty relaxed day. I had minor surgery in the afternoon. It was the first surgical procedure I ever had. Luckily, it was painless and I'm feeling good right now. Other than the surgery, I did not do very much. I did go to Waldenbooks though. I returned The Dim Sum of All Things 'cause it was kind of lame, but I decided to stay and check out the outlet section... I bought some awesome books for cheap... I have now added the following to my Library:

Riding Lessons - by Sara Gruen
The Apprentice - by Lewis (Scooter) Libby
The Dalai Lama's Book of Awakening
The Handsomest Man in Cuba - by Lynette Chaing

I also bought this awesome cocktail recipe book which came with a cool shaker... only $1.50! The whole lot was $9.73. I am psyched. Perhaps you are seeing a theme with the books I buy, horse related and culture related, but whatever.

Before Waldenbooks, I also stopped into the Thomasville store. There were big signs all over the place saying they're going out of business, so I looked for anything that might look good in our place. Everything, even though it was on sale, was mucho expensive still, i.e. $2,600 for a bookshelf. I did notice the beautiful Cinnamon Hill Desk which matches our dining room table. It is gorgeous and would look really swank in my office, although it is $950. The sales lady was all about me "putting it on the plastic", but it would not be smart for me to buy it right now, so I told DAS about it and maybe he'll get it for me for my b'day as he is the one rolling in the paper. :) That would be sweet!

Last but not least, I am kind of messed up about my parents. They've been having ups and downs for the past fifteen years, but it seems to me that their relationship is based on a lot of hiding true feelings and acting. My dad has some serious issues, but my Mom loves him so much and is afraid to be on her own at her age, even at the expense of her own self-esteem and well-being. I am scared for her, but there is not alot I can do from here. I may have to go to NJ tomorrow to see what is going on, but we'll see. I'm supposed to go to a Syracuse reception at 2pm tomorrow, but that may have to be skipped.
